Plastic & Reconstructive Procedures

The following list includes typical Plastic & Reconstructuve procedures. Please enquire about other procedures not shown below.

Breast Reconstruction:

• After cancer or for congenital defects (including immediate breast reconstruction at the time of mastectomy)

• Dr. Kurz is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon, which means that she has additional training above standard Plastic Surgery residency training

General Plastic Surgery:

• Includes breast reduction, scar revision, excision of soft tissue or skin lesions, artery/muscle/nerve biopsies and functional blepharoplasty.

Facial Trauma Surgery:

• Includes mandible and other facial bone fractures and complex soft tissue injuries.

Hand Surgery:

• All hand trauma, including bone and soft tissue injuries, limb or digit revascularization/reattachment, WorkSafeBC claims, carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve releases.

• Dr. Kurz’s residency training had a strong emphasis on hand and wrist surgery, including rheumatoid and osteoarthritic deformities.

Skin Cancer and Skin lesion clinic:

• Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, benign skin lesions

Melanoma Clinic:

• Dr. Kurz ran the Toronto Regional Cancer Centre melanoma clinic during her time at Sunnybrook Hospital

• Includes excisions under General Anaesthetic for large or sensitive area lesions or when sentinel lymph node biopsy is required

Burn and acute/chronic wound care:

• Dr. Kurz’s residency training had a strong emphasis on acute wound and burn care and both acute and secondary reconstructive surgery

Complex Wound Care:

• e.g. free or local flap coverage in association with complex traumatic, orthopaedic, ENT, Urology, gynecology or general surgery wounds.
